Someone please kill all genre pride in music

Looking at you, Pop-Punk. Hardcore, you too. Ska pride tends to wear off in Junior year of HS. If not, seek help.

Genres don’t need to be defended; they should be expanded and improved upon. Examples of success in this endeavor:

_

Pop-Punk: Good Luck, The Motorcycle Industry, Blink-182

Hardcore: Folly, So Many Ways, Touché Amoré

Ska: Streetlight Manifesto, The Best of the Worst, Arrogant Sons of Bitches/Bomb the Music Industry!

_

These are bands that left the confines of strict genre purism and fused different elements and dynamics together. They’re way more exciting to me than your Man Overboards, your Most Precious Bloods, and your Toasters.
